GREG SHERIDAN

Director & Business Adviser  (FIPA)

Greg has been in public practice for over 30 years and has dealt with most problems facing small to medium size businesses or enterprises (SME’s). He is one of the founding Directors of Sheridans.

His passion and specialty is helping small business clients with strategic planning, forecasting and profit improvement. Greg says' "So many business owners start off on the wrong foot with rocky foundations including the wrong business structure and accounting software that is not utilised properly. All too often we find budding entrepreneurs have had poor advice regarding finance options and business registrations, further they are often under insured. We believe our client brief includes guiding and protecting our clients and we genuinely love helping small business owners navigate their way through the maze and haze of issues and challenges. In fact, from day one we have always told clients that no job is too big or too small for the team. We strive to do more than just keep the score for our clients, avoid using technical jargon and let clients know that there’s no such thing as a ‘silly’ question."

In addition, Greg has a unique process he uses with small business clients where he shows them how to look ahead quarter by quarter, with profit improvement as the priority and setting a clear strategic direction for the business.

SHANE HOLMES

Director & Financial Adviser

Shane joined the financial services industry in 1990 with Colonial Mutual Life providing advice on superannuation, personal life and disability insurance. He had a strong desire to provide independent advice for his clients and within 2 years commenced his own practice. He quickly developed business relationships with up to 10 life insurance companies, which provided Shane with the opportunity to deliver a wider range of tailored superannuation and insurance services to his clients.

Over time and with a shared client first focus Shane developed a strong working relationship with Greg Sheridan. In 1998 Shane and Greg merged their respective financial planning and accounting businesses to form what is known today as Sheridans Accountants & Financial Planners Pty Ltd.

Shane explains that, as advisers we often hear people say - “I don’t have enough money to see a financial planner”. However, we suggest the opposite is in fact true.  One of our favourite sayings is, failing to plan is planning to fail”.

All too often we hear of the impact failing to plan has on people. One example is inefficient estate planning with a large proportion of the population not having a legal and up to date Will or Power of Attorney in place. Poor estate planning can often lead to family disputes.

"There are many issues we discuss with clients, such as putting in place easy to follow budgets that allow our clients to commence saving for a home, a holiday or to grow their wealth. We review our client’s personal insurance protection plans with particular emphasis placed on selecting tailored products and well worded insurance policies. Tax effective and easy to understand retirement savings plan strategies are considered along with more complex and detailed advice for Self-Managed Superannuation Fund trustees. A comfortable lifestyle in retirement does not simply happen by chance. The right advice and a clear plan are the essential tools needed to achieve goals."

Personalised plans require regular revision to capture life’s financial milestones such as getting married, becoming a parent, children in their teenage years then approaching retirement. Shane says, "I really enjoy helping people plan through these various stages of the financial life cycle."

Shane completed his Diploma of Financial Planning in 2002 from Deakin University and continued to further his education by completing specialist accreditation courses to provide advice on Self-Managed Superannuation Funds, ASX Accredited Listed Products and Margin Lending and Geared Investments.

Outside of work, Shane enjoys spending time with his wife and son. In his younger days Shane represented Australia in cycling but nowadays enjoys endurance motorcycle trail rides in the remote areas of outback Australia.


JOHN SUTER

Non Executive Director

John joined Sheridans as a Non-Executive Director in 2003. John is a respected and skilled leader with a strong understanding of strategic issues, there impact on successful planning and the ability to ensure agreed strategies are implemented.

John has over 30 years of experience in financial services including banking, insurance and fund management.

His most recent role within the Financial Services industry was as General Manager ANZ distribution where he was responsible for developing and implementing the distribution strategy for investment and insurance products.

John is currently employed by Frisk, an innovative technology company that indexes structured and unstructured data to provide meaningful business insights for major government agencies. In his role as Executive Director of Strategy, he is a key member of the leadership team and works closely with the Frisk Board to develop strategies to achieve financial forecasts and profits.  

John also has a passion for wine and growing grapes and owns a vineyard in the Clare Valley.  


FAIRUZ AZLI

Practice Manager  (CPA & CA)
( Business Consultant / Mortgage Broker)

Having worked in a number of highly successful accounting and financial planning businesses, Fairuz joined Sheridans in February 2015 as a Practice Manager. His key role is to assist the Directors with the day to day operations of the business.

As a qualified accountant, Fairuz enjoys helping clients to get the best financial outcomes from their business. Fairuz’s specialist technical skills include business planning, three way financial forecasting, finance management reporting and business analysis.

As part of his extended role at Sheridans, Fairuz utilises his skills as a qualified mortgage broker to assist clients to find the loan most suited to their individual needs. 

Fairuz’s ultimate passion is helping his clients become financially well organised, making sure all aspects of their personal finance – building wealth, protecting wealth, managing debt, meeting tax obligations, planning for retirement and estate planning - are addressed appropriately and reviewed regularly.

Fairuz’s professional associations and memberships include:

When not at work, Fairuz takes the opportunity to spend time with his family, play golf, fishing, attend the local gym and enjoys the occasional domestic and overseas holiday.
 


JOHN NEEVES

Business Services Manager (CPA)

John joined Sheridans in July 2014 after holding a Partner Manager role at the software company MYOB. He has over 37 years’ experience as a professional accountant, including 15 years as a Principal in his own firm and 6 years as CFO of a large financial planning and tax practice.

His role at Sheridans is primarily involved in working with small to medium enterprises. John’s wide range of experience, enables him to cover a broad range of tax and business advice for clients from personal tax returns, mum and dad businesses to larger corporate organisations and groups.

John’s  professional qualifications and memberships include:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy (BA Acc.) from the South Australian Institute of Technology (now University of South Australia)
  • Certified Practising Accountant - CPA Australia
  • Registered Tax Agent

John is married with 3 young adult children. Outside of work he is a keen fly fisherman and heavily involved in a local football (soccer) club as a senior committee member and treasurer.


COLIN TUTTY

Senior Financial Adviser (CFP) & SMSF Specialist Adviser

After a long career with one of the major banks Colin moved to Sheridans some 15 years ago to assist with the implementation of Sheridans fee for service financial planning offering and to cater to the needs of personal investors and self-managed superannuation fund trustees seeking to establish direct share portfolios.

As a qualified Certified Financial Planner and Self-Managed Superannuation Fund Specialist Advisor, Colin enjoys providing ongoing service to his many long standing clients and the opportunity to meet new investors seeking to become financially well organised.

Colin’s professional associations and memberships include:

SANDRA GRAZIANO

Tax & Business Adviser
Sandra commenced with Sheridans in June 2017 and brings over 25 years of experience in professional practice.

She primarily works with our small business and individual clients where her focus is on client outcomes as a whole. Her work includes, but is not limited to, the preparation of financial statements and compliance related matters but
also problem solving to achieve the best outcomes for clients.

Through building relationships with our clients, Sandra is able to get a thorough understanding of their business, financial and personal needs. This combined with her extensive background in accounting and taxation gives her the knowledge and understanding to work with our clients to achieve optimum outcomes.

Sandra has completed a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of South Australia together with the Certified Practising Accountants professional program.

Outside of work Sandra is married with 2 teenage/young adult children and enjoys travelling and spending time with family and friends.


DANA SHERIDAN

Tax Accountant (MIPA)

Dana has been in public practice for over 30 years and specialises in Australian and Investment Commission (ASIC) Corporate Compliance

Assisting our clients with the completion and lodgement of their individual and small businesses income tax returns is a key role for Dana. She enjoys ensuring that our clients are well organised with their financial and Corporate Affairs. An important role Dana plays in Sheridan’s day to day business operations, is as our company accountant.

Dana’s professional qualifications and memberships include:

  • Affiliate of Securities Institute of Australia

Outside of the work environment, Dana is a passionate snow skier during the winter months. In summer, she loves playing tennis but only when it’s not too hot!  Spending time with her family and friends is of great importance to Dana.


SEAN ELDER

Tax & Business Adviser (CA)

Sean is a Chartered Accountant who came to Sheridans in January 2016. He gained a wide range of experience from working with medium-sized and boutique accounting firms.

His primary focus is a desire to assist our clients in small to medium size businesses, grow and improve their cash flow. Sean is experienced in providing advice to high net wealth individuals. 

Prior to Sean’s commencing his career in accountancy in 2008, he was a Commonwealth Government advisor.

Sean’s professional qualifications and memberships include:

  • Master of Commerce & Bachelor of Economics from the University of Adelaide
  • Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting from the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
  • Member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand

Sean lives locally in Glenelg with his wife, their two young children, & their Labrador retriever. 


JOHN MENELAOU

Financial Adviser and Risk Insurance Specialist

John joined Sheridans in January 2011 to assist our clients develop financial strategies to improve their financial position. He has worked as a financial planner for the past 8 years and since commencing his career in the financial services industry in 1984, he has gained great experience in variety of technical advice and management roles.

During this time he has developed specialties in life and disability insurance, retirement planning and superannuation advice.

He is passionate about helping clients improve their lifestyle and achieve their goals. John believes his role is to help make the complex simple and to implement strategies that place our clients in a better financial position. John’s professional qualifications and memberships include:

  • Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning
  • Association of Financial advisors
  • Registered Tax (Financial) Advisor of the Tax Practitioners Board

He is married with 3 children and out of the office he enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening and fishing. He also loves the cricket and footy.
 


DENISE ROBERTS

Para Planner & Client Service Officer

Denise commenced with Sheridans in June 2008.  She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in client service, gained from a variety of roles and positions held within the financial profession since 1983.

As a Client Service Officer and Para-planner at Sheridans, Denise provides administration support to our Financial Advisors. A large part of her role is in the preparation of Statement of Advice documents, financial modelling along with assisting clients with completion and implementation of an array of complex financial documentation.

Denise works closely with our clients in assisting them with the implementation of their financial plan that has been provided by our advisors.


KAREN BLACK  

Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) Specialist Accountant

Karen commenced with Sheridans in 2007.  She has worked in a variety of roles within financial services industry since 1986 including 12 years at AMP as corporate superannuation account manager and associate consultant. 

She works with our SMSF clients, assisting them with the preparation of financial statements and compliance related matters. Being an Authorised Representative of Sheridans Accountants and Financial Planners Pty Ltd, allows her to provide strategic superannuation advice. She gains most enjoyment in assisting our SMSF clients with strategy and problem solving to assist them optimise outcomes for their financial future.

Karen’s professional qualifications and memberships include:

  • Bachelor of Arts (Accounting),
  • Certified Practising Accountant (CPA)
  • Registered Tax (Financial) Adviser of the - Tax Practitioners Board
  • Associate member of the Self-managed Super Fund Association

Outside work, Karen is married with 3 teenage children and actively seeks a balance between work, family and community. She is devoted to spending time with her family and as a volunteer at her children’s school Community Outreach Group.
 


CHRIS JONES

Mortgage Broker Assistant

Chris joined Sheridans in May 2017 and brings over 24 years banking experience. Further, he has in excess of 17 years administration experience within accounting firms.

His primary function is to provide assistance to our Mortgage Broking division. Once our Loan Broker has made final recommendations, Chris proceeds to guide our clients through the loan application process.

He has a keen eye for detail and enjoys assisting clients every step of the way. Collation of information, preparation and lodgement of loan applications is a passion for Chris, as he likes to ensure the process with the banks runs as smoothly as possible. Chris then follows your application through to settlement.

Part of managing the client relationship with Sheridans, is in providing tools from Sheridans library of information to assist them in becoming financially well organised.

Away from work Chris enjoys keeping fit by running, cycling and going to the local gym. He also enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.



JAKE CARMICHAEL

Assistant – Self Managed Superannuation Fund (BS)

Jake joined Sheridans in October 2017 after spending the previous five years in the banking sector with one of the major banks.

His role at Sheridans is in assisting our SMSF accountant with the day to day administration, which ensures the accuracy of information for our clients when they view their portfolios online via Sheridan’s website. Jake’s professional qualifications include:

  • Bachelor of Science (Business Administration and Marketing)
  • Certificate 4 - Financial Services

He obtained his degree from the Institute of Technology, while on an athletic scholarship in the USA.

Outside of work Jake enjoys travelling the world, spending time with friends and family and is currently playing soccer in the FFSA National Premier League with South Adelaide.
 


LYNDA DICKEY

Client Service Officer - Financial Planning

After 12 years as Office Manager with a boutique Financial Planning Licensee, Lynda joined Sheridans in May 2012. She has brought a wealth of experience to Sheridans, gained over many years of working with large and small financial institutions, having held various key administrative roles within the financial services sector.

As well as providing client services and administrative support for our Financial Planning team, Lynda also assists the Directors of Sheridans Financial Services Pty Ltd (our Licensee Company).  Her responsibilities extend to ensuring compliance related matters associated with our Financial Services License held with the “Australian Investment and Securities Commission” (ASIC) are in order.

Lynda enjoys many things in life including the arts and all things sports.



SIAN RUNDLE

Tax & Business Adviser (AIPA)

Sian has over 30 years’ experience in the finance sector. She began her career with one of the major banks. Starting out as a ledger clerk in 1986, she made her way to hold a position as a Senior Credit Analyst in Corporate Banking. In 1997 Sian commenced a successful period of self-employment operating her own mortgage broking and bookkeeping businesses, until she joined Sheridans in July 2015.

Working at Sheridans has created opportunity to build on her wealth of knowledge and experience. Sian is passionate about the success of small business and works primarily with our clients in attending to their financial statements, compliance matters and developing strategies to assist them in becoming financially well organised and profitable. Sian’s professional qualifications and memberships include:

·  Tax Practitioners Board - Registered BAS Agent
·  Associate Member of the Institute of Public Accountants

She is currently continuing her study, completing an MBA at Deakin University. Outside of work Sian enjoys spending time with family and friends and playing the piano.
 


SHEREEN WHITE

Tax & Business Adviser

Shereen joined Sheridans in 2012. She commenced her accounting career in 1998 and has worked in public practice in both Adelaide and Regional South Australia. Having dealt with small business owners and individuals during this time, Shereen brings a range of expertise to our small business clients.

She enjoys working with first time small businesses owners and is passionate in helping them navigate the complexities of the Australian taxation system. Our existing well established business clients appreciate Shereen’s enthusiastic approach, in helping them look to the future and assisting them to find ways to improve their financial position.

Shereen’s variety of experience in public practice, places her in a strong position to assist our clients over a diverse range of business sectors from farming, retail, medical to hospitality and engineering.

She also enjoys the challenge of taking on special projects for clients with a ‘can do’ country attitude.

Shereen enjoys spending her spare time doing anything creative from painting to photography. Her favourite locations to take advantage of her passion are the many SA beaches and the beautiful Adelaide hills.

 


PHILLIP KRETSCHMER                                                         

Tax & Business Adviser

Phillip began his accounting career at Henley Beach in 1990.  
Since then, he has gained considerable experience as a
Public Accountant and the various disciplines involved in
the profession such as preparation of financial and income
tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, self-managed
superannuation funds and individuals.

In 1995, Phillip began working as a partner / sole trader with
an accounting firm in Blackwood and managed 4 staff during
this period.

 Joining Sheridans in May 2018, Phillips primary role is in assisting our clients with preparation of their individual tax returns. Having been a small business owner himself, Phillip also enjoys assisting our small business clients in understanding their financial position, including preparation of financial statements and tax returns.

Phillips professional qualifications and memberships include:

  •  Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy (University of South Australia)
  • Registered Tax Agent
  • Institute of Public Accountants (Member, MIPA)

 Phillip is married with 3 Children. Outside of work he is heavily involved with Little Athletics and Athletics SA as a coach, committee member and official. 


ANGELINA COMLEY

Accountant

Angelina joined Sheridans in July 2017. Having had 8 years personal experience running and operating her own coffee shop business in Alice Springs, she realised she had more to offer small business owners in relation to keeping good financial records and general business management.

Since having completed her Advanced Diploma and Certificate IV in Accounting by 2014, she went on to work with a variety of businesses ranging from a Holiday Tour Operator, Real Estate Agent and the Hospitality Sector. During the 10 years prior to joining our firm, Angelina had acquired positions of managing a team of bookkeepers at medium and large accounting firms.

Angelina is XERO Certified and has advanced skills in MYOB. She enjoys helping our small to medium business clients get the best out of these software programmes, to assist them in achieving the best outcomes for their businesses.

Both at work and at home, Angelina is a connoisseur of fine coffee on which, she frequently tops up. For best results, approach with her with an offering of coffee for a full expresso bookkeeping experience!



TONI SMITH

Client Service Officer – Reception

Toni joined Sheridans in November 2017 and has over 20 years reception and administration experience within the Accounting and Finance industry.

When visiting Sheridans, you will be greeted by Toni’s friendly nature as our first point of contact. She is passionate about her role of making our clients feel welcome and valued. As a great team player, she enjoys providing administration assistance to our team of professionals.

Outside of work, Toni enjoys spending time with her family and friends.


KAREN KALLESKE

Assistant - Accounting

Karen joined Sheridans in July 2011 as an accounting assistant providing support to our senior accountants in the preparation of financial statements and tax returns for our business clients. She also assists with the preparation and lodgement of monthly/quarterly IAS & BAS.

Karen has numerous years of bookkeeping experience and is happy to help our clients with any accounting package queries they may have.

Outside of work Karen enjoys spending time with family, going to the gym and catching up with friends.


ERYN TREE

Assistant - Accounting

Eryn started with Sheridans in June 2014 as a part-time receptionist. Her great work ethic was soon noticed by the directors and was soon offered a full time position after 6 months.

Her desire to learn more about the world of accounting, Eryn completed the Income Tax Preparation Course and began to assist our accountants with preparation of tax returns. At the beginning of 2017, Eryn moved from reception to assist our accountants in a permanent role.

Keen to develop her knowledge, Eryn has commenced her Diploma of Accounting with the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA). Working alongside our experienced accountants, Eryn is completing more complex work to further hone her skills in preparing tax returns, bookkeeping using XERO and MYOB for small businesses, along with other accounting duties.

Eryn with her partner are proud first home owners and together are in the process of completing the finishing touches. Eryn has recently purchased a puppy, which she adores and she enjoys spending time with family and friends. Eryn is also an active patrolling member at Christies Beach Surf Life Saving Club.


LAURA BILLINGHURST

Client Service Officer - Financial Planning

Laura joined Sheridans in January 2015. She brings with her knowledge and experience gained from over 10 years in the financial services industry.

As a Client Services Officer at Sheridans, Laura provides administrative support to our Financial advisors.  A large part of her role is preparation of reports for both our clients and advisors along with implementation of both investment and insurance strategies as recommended by the financial advisors.

Laura works closely with our clients in assisting them with the implementation of their financial plan that has been provided by our advisors.


JULIE RICHARDS

Client Service Officer – Business Administrator

After 20+ years of working in the retail sector Julie felt she had more to offer the community. Eager to develop her knowledge, she successfully completed a Business Administration certificate at Stones & Muirden Business College. This created an opportunity for Julie to commence a career in a clerical and administrative role in a business environment.

Her lecturer at Stones & Muirden was impressed with Julie’s bright, friendly and enthusiastic approach, her name was put forward to Sheridans for a position as “Director of First Impressions”.

Julie commenced employment with Sheridans in December 2009 and has become an integral part of our business. During this time she has increased her skills and knowledge significantly, fulfilling many roles and responsibilities. She immediately earns the respect of her colleagues through her “can do” attitude and friendly nature. However most importantly, Julie enjoys her role and views the people she works with as her extended family.

Outside of work Julie enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling, reading and baking … and all the staff appreciate her cooking!
